diving the Bali Sea
You had to see closely to make out the
"Liberty" because it is not easy to identify as
a former ship. It's odd behaviour like
exceptional trusting are the maritim life in and
in the near of this wreck. But this
wreck is the attraction in this area and too many
divers feeded the fishes.
The visibility during the "Liberty
Wreck" dive was about 15 metre
to 18 metre and we were at a
depth of 19,8 metre.
Because the wreck is completely
falled apart there are no rooms
or way to discover.
In the area of Tulamben and
Amed in the norteast of Bali
are some more dive destinations
which are worthy to visit.
But three hours journey there
in the early morning and four
hours return journey (traffic jam on
the way back because a bridge was damaged by the
rain and mud) are too much.
In the future it's within my meaning
to think about to stay in Tulamben directly. But it's
to think about that there is no touristic
service outside the hotel of the dive base and no
sandy beach.
If you know it and you will come for
diving only it's a good idea to do so.
Divers who lived in the hotel of the
dive base will not have a long journey every day for
two dives. They could select what
they like from whole the day from
5 to 6 dives.
May be it is to think about to dive
1 to 3 days in the Tulamben / Amed
area and after that to change on a
ship up to 10 days to discover Bali,
Flores and Comodo Seas.
Of course it's to think about money
too. Holidays in Bali are not low in
price.
For the two dives this report talks
from I had to pay 72 US $ included
fins, tanks, lead, shorty (the rest
were my own gear), lunch and softdrinks.
The trip from hotel to the dive base and
back was included too.
In brochures I read in Bali were the
prices variable for dive destinatin, distance,
additional service and more between
45 US $ and 75 US $.
