Similan liveaboard 2000
February 16 th 2000
08.00 h am Richelieu Rock
11.00 h am Richelieu Rock
02.30 h pm Koh Tachei
05.15 h pm Koh Bon
Following
again my personal limit
I took the first three dives and rest
during the fourth.
No whaleshark, no manta ray.
This is here free nature therefore
for such meetings you need a
piece of luck too. In opposite to
animals living in a zoo, the animals
in free nature do not wait for your
visit.
But without this highlights we have
actions on our dives too.
During the first dive met the sepia
-
to see above -. Then a discussion
with the captain about the safety.
When going to surface at the mooring
I do not
use the buoy. He said I had to do so
and thus I was 25 minutes longer in water
then necessary because I get the pick
up not before blowing up the buoy.
When they are many nations on a ship,
Thais, Chinese, Japanese, Swiss,
Englishmen, Austrians and Germans (
so the composition of this route) there are
problems sometimes too.
At Koh Tachei was strong current
again, but the big shoal of batfishes too.
A seacobra ( banded yellow-lip
sea snake ) sat down on the left lower leg of Thomas
and thus we had action again. Thomas
didn't feel it and push it away when he came
with his right fin to his left lower
leg. The seacobra dived away under the next corals,
this shows again as little aggressive
the most poisonous snakes of the world are.
By
looking to the seacobra I forget
to look for my direction thus I knocked
my left foot at a coral block. Under
water
was nothing to see, but back on board
run the blood down. Not badly, but
well
that I anyway make three dives a day
only. Because with all the beautyhere
is
shark area. These are not monsters,
but
to bleed isn't good.
One of the sharks was to see today
in the
morning from the boat, may be liked
the
waste of the citchen.
February 17 th 2000
07.00 h am Fantasea Reef (Similan No.8)
09.00 h am Boulder City
----->approx. 05.00 h pm Chalong Bay,
Phuket
After thunderstorms during the night
it was a little bit darkly under water, as if yet all
would not have waked up. Nevertheless
I had the luck to meet four blue - spotted
stingrays The visibility was early
in the morning after the thunderstorms 10 to 15 m.
During the second dive I saw a leopardshark,
the visibility was 20 m and more.
Because the sea was jerky, the waves
had foam we reached Ao Chalong against
08.00 h pm.
On the second trip of this holiday I
unfortunately did not meet whaleshark too, but
a manta ray and like told above shot
one ornate ghost pipefish. During every dive
new can be discovered.
Regarding the weather I refer to the
table. Although February gives - in normal times
- the best sun warranty there was rains
and thunderstorms (s.a.), on the return trip
on the second liveaboard even storm
and rain by coming back to Ao Chalong.
It was as it was November weather in
February, but also in other sections of the world
the weather is "in disorder".
