A travel to Cuba is allways
an adventure and a step in a land before our time. 1994
was my first journey with uw camera 
and some pictures are here to see.
Cuba is a poor country ,
what the people get from state to eat for one month reach to two weeks
only and for example they get one piece of soap for one month.
At a difference to my first
travel in 1993 I established, now there are two parts of people, one part
with US $ , the others without. If they have US $ , they be able to buy
in special shops what they need or like. As a german I know this phenomenon from the former GDR
(East Germany), where the DM (West) the inofficial currency was.
In Cuba are not a functioning
transport system , people are carrying on lorrys.
On the other hand I will
not forget in Cuba are , in opposite to many other latinamerican countries
, no illiteracy and there is a good medical providing
for all people for free.
But this should not be a
political page.
Diving in Cuba is diving in tropical seas , the visibility at the dive destinations ( 16 ) in the Bacanao area is
between 15m and 20m.
The dive destinations are
from 10m until 40m deep and the water is ~27°C
warm.
In the Bacanao area, in the south of Cuba there in no
diving like on the Similans - to see on my Thailand
pages , it is not one of the top ten of the world, but if you like
to dive in tropical seas , you will have blue water ,
coral reefs and coral fishes 
are
to see , I missed morays and rays.
Take a look
on this page to the grey angel fish , the lobster and the trumpet fish
. This pictures I made this year , the times before I hadn't my own underwater
camera and there was no one to rent.
On the other hand I had
a bad meeting with a maco shark during my first travel in 1993 and don't
like to repeat it. The reason was the harpooning of fishes by cubanian
divers , what the shark attracted .
During one of my dives this
year I saw cubanians by harpooning during snorkeling near the coast at
the same time I dived there. They have not enough to eat , but it is dangerous
for everybody being in the water.
The first dive of a day for visitors of the Hotel where
the dive base is in , starts at 9.30 pm and the second 1 hour after the
first dive had finished. I disliked that there are no more dives a day
, especially , there is diving in the morning only .
