The Similans lies about 120 sm in the North - West of Phuket.
They are nine islands, the dive destinations belongs to the top
ten of the world. The range of
sight is until 50 m.
Names like Navy Bay, Shark Fin Reef, East of Eden, Hinkelstein Bay,Christmas
Point,
Elephant's Head, Coral Garden etc. let the Similans diver dream
of excellent dives.
On the way to the Surin Islands lies Koh Bon, where you have the
chance to meet big Manta Rays (seeing below) and Koh Tachei, with its friendly
Batfishes. 
After the Surin Islands follows at the border to Myanmar (Burma)
Richelieu Rock, a lonely
rock like a needle in the middle of the sea. There you have a good
chance to meet Whale- sharks just so like by Hin Daeng and Hin Muang in
the south of Phuket, at the beginning of the Street of Malacca.

In the Andaman Sea you can meet whale sharks not
only at the abovementioned "whale shark meeting points".
With luck, you can meet them at other places, too.
I met the whale shark seeing below at Koh Tachei 20m depth
on January 30th 1997.
