Similan liveaboard 2000The weather stabilized, the barometer
of my divebuddy Lutz shows rising values. After
some lightnings and drops last night
now clouds and sun changed off.Quite so reliable
as I know it since years the weather
seems this year not to be.
Whaleshark or manta ray I didn't saw
today, but nevertheless spent a beautiful dive day.
Concerning
Koh Bon are me this day
no special features in memory. The
dive at Koh Tachei was in case of
strong current very strenuous. Not
only by going down at the mooring,
but also thereafter. In Strong current
you have the best chance to meet a
manta ray here, but none is to see.
At this time I missed at this destination
the many batfishes I saw the last years,
but that can still come.
At Richelieu Rock we found at
the
beginning of the dive the "cleaning
station". A big barracuda of 1,5 to
2 m
which let his teeth cleaned from a
little cleaner fish was now directly beside us. It was
not to see before and we watched now
the impressing presentation, it's teeth are big
and fascinate. On this proximity I
would have never gone if I had saw it beforehand.
The eyes semm strangely. It saw upward
and in next fraction of a second directly on
me, the change came from my view how
with a light switch jerkily, without stopover.
This impression is a result of the
speed of changing the direction of view.
I didn't made a picture, such fishes
of prey I don't trouble with my flash. At the end of
this dive I met the same barracuda
again and I made a shot when I was behind it approx.
two
meters. No good pictures however
nevertheless a memory and an ack-
nowledgement, that the meeting at
the beginning of this dive was not
a horror dream, but reality.
Special at Richelieu Rock barrakudas
are regular to see, but in normal times
the divers watch it from a longer distance.
Today the big barracudas have a meeting
at the mooring and we dived back to
surface
in open water.
Beforehand we had by the way discovered
one large octopuss and a sepia, others
saw
a ornate ghost pipefish ( nevertheless
I met
it again on my second trip of this
vacation and made a picture).
Today we had have fortunately a visibility
of 20 to 30 meters at Richelieu Rock , during
the two dives before (Koh Bon and Koh
Tachei, s.u.) the the visibility wasn't whole so
well.
During the fourth dive of this day,
without me, the others saw a shoal of batfisheses,
like this one I missed at Koh Tachei.
They came until boat get somethink to eat.
When the first "divers below" buoys
came up I saw once again a jumping Marlin. Herons
and sea eagles are to see here all
times too, sometimes turtles.
